Dance is a precious art

I really love being a Malaysian somehow due to the various cultures and also the values that I carry within me. It is not because of being prejudice or what, but I really love the culture especially when talking about dancing. I really enjoy dancing actually. It is innate in me that somehow I am able to pick dance steps quite fast and able to relate myself with the rhythm of the music while dancing. I am not being overthrown with myself saying that I am a good dancer but it is something that I proud of. I would entertain anyone who asked me to be included in their dancing team. For me, it is the most awaits opportunity. In Malaysia, we are wrapped with lots of dancing types. For me, it’s a good thing because it is something to be proud of and something to be shown to the world. It’s our identity. In Malaysia we have Malay traditional dance, Indian dance, Chinese dance and ethnics dance. That’s not all, because within those categories given, under them still have many kinds of different dance art. For example the Chinese dance, they have the Lion dance, Peacock dance and opera dance. Meanwhile for the Malay dance, we have Zapin, Inang, Mak Yong, Kuda Kepang and many more. For ethnic dance, we have The Sumazau dance, Ngajat Tampi dance and others. The ethnic dance is only being performed for certain occasion and it is not seen occasionally like other dances. For example the the Sumazau dance is to welcome people to the Long Houses. Each of the dances has their own representation. That is why I call our dance as unique and authentic. Although, I am more into contemporary dance but I rather appreciate the traditional dance more as it is the background of every cultures and it is also an original one compared to nowadays pop or couture dance.
